Support our mission to provide yoga benefits to our front line workers and underserved community members. What started in spring of 2020, as open air morning yoga in Meade Park and a free community yoga class on Cville public access TV, has grown into a larger effort, bringing yoga to local groups without access to adequate self care and wellness. Recognizing how mental health and physical ability affects our quality of life, our aim is to foster physical resilience and emotional agility in dealing with our daily circumstances. Experiencing the pandemic for the 3rd year, our communities have changed, public systems have had societal shifts and businesses have regrouped economically. In many ways, our established security has been pulled out from under us. We are professional yoga teachers being of service in challenging times. We currently have a growing Charlottesville public housing yoga effort, started at Westhaven.

Nonprofit Yoga. Pandemic life is home practice, outdoor class, on-site class and virtual yoga. Our non-profit effort, Mindful Mountain Yoga Cville, provides daily morning yoga on Charlottesville public access cable TV channel 13 (Comcast) or access our TV class library at our Vimeo channel, https://vimeo.com/showcase/8390637 .

Chair Yoga Class

With a variety of yoga movement and meditation classes, our non-profit mission can provide yoga benefits to local schools, day support programs, nursing home staff, media outreach, local medical groups, churches and organizations that serve. We support veterans, low income residents, members of our BIPOC community, and seniors. Continuing programs want to include local people seeking refuge and refugees from abroad, people with mental stress or physical impairment and their caregivers.

Our Services

Do you know a group who'd benefit from physical relaxation and mental stress relief? Remember our yoga with our local elementary school? How about our chair yoga class for caregiver support? Or veterans free classses? Contact mmycville@mindfulmountainyogacville.org with ways that we can help.

Are you interested in helping this effort (could be as simple as teaching a class) and guiding our direction in this compassionate adventure? Please share your ideas. We are a cohort of professional yoga and meditation teachers, and we welcome holistic group practices, from collective drumming to tai chi, for possibilities to create a network of wellbeing. Our teachers support these non-profit efforts with our studio and private instruction for individuals and wellness programs for companies wanting to support workplace health and employee satisfaction.

Our Long Game

Mindful Mountain Yoga Cville is not only about physical range of motion and mental agility. Our practice of balance extends in ways that invite everyone, without criticism. Especially in times when we find communities separated into divisive political camps, religious exclusions and cultural disconnect, Mindful Mountain Yoga Cville finds ourselves as a refuge from judgement, a safe space where differences do not prevent us from sharing our practice together.
